Job description


onsemi is seeking is seeking an experienced Senior Probe Technician to support high-volume semiconductor wafer probe operations. This hands-on role is responsible for identifying and resolving probing issues that cause production interruptions, increase cycle time, or affect test results.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with probe alignment, planarity, scrub-mark evaluation, probe card maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting. This person will serve as a technical resource for operators and technicians while working closely with Test Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and Manufacturing to improve probe performance, equipment availability, and production flow.
Shift: Monday - Friday
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot wafer probe interruptions, including alignment errors, planarity issues, poor or inconsistent contact, excessive retest, and probe-related yield concerns.
  • Adjust and verify probe-to-pad alignment, contact height, overdrive, planarity, and other approved setup parameters.
  • Inspect scrub marks to confirm proper location, length, consistency, and pad coverage.
  • Diagnose whether failures are related to the prober, probe card, tester, product, or process.
  • Inspect probe cards for contamination, damaged or bent probes, wear, loose components, and electrical or mechanical defects.
  • Perform approved probe card cleaning, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and qualification activities.
  • Support probe card installations, product changeovers, equipment recoveries, and new card introductions.
  • Use equipment logs, wafer maps, test results, alarm histories, and visual inspections to identify root causes.
  • Respond quickly to equipment issues while ensuring that adjustments do not create risks to wafers, probe cards, or test equipment.
  • Document troubleshooting, repairs, parameter changes, and qualification results in the appropriate tracking systems.
  • Identify recurring failure trends and recommend improvements to cleaning frequency, preventive maintenance, setup procedures, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides and standardized work instructions.
  • Train and mentor technicians and operators on probe card handling, alignment, planarity, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow all cleanroom, ESD, safety, quality, and contamination-control requirements.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Semiconductor Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Five or more years of semiconductor wafer probe, probe card, test equipment, or related precision-manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex wafer probing issues.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Probe-to-pad alignment
    • Planarity and coplanarity
    • Contact height and overdrive
