Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Research, Outreach, and Instruction department (ROI) supports the teaching mission of UNCG by providing research assistance and information literacy instruction. ROI is the administrative home of most of the liaison librarians. Each department on campus has a liaison librarian who works with that department to provide information literacy instruction, in-depth research consultations, research assignment design, and collection development.
Position Summary
The Student Success Librarian will support UNCG students in a variety of ways. They will support UNCG graduate students by coordinating the ROI Internship and Graduate Assistant program. They will hire and train graduate students to provide reference assistance to patrons by chat, phone, and in person. They will collaborate with other departments within the library to provide professional development opportunities for graduate students working in the libraries. They will also collaborate with the Outreach and Engagement Librarian on activities that support undergraduate student success. They will supervise a temporary desk manager responsible for desk staffing and intern support.
They will serve as a liaison to some academic departments, with specific assignments to be determined based on the successful candidate's background and departmental needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required ALA-Accredited Master of Library Science degree.
  • Required experience providing reference services.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer experience providing information literacy instruction.
  • Prefer experience working in an academic library.
  • Prefer ability to proficiently speak English and Spanish.
