JOB TYPE: Part-time, temporary from August 2026 through June 2027
SCHEDULE: Up to 14 hours/week; hours include Mon-Thurs from 2:15-5:45pm
COMPENSATION: $11.66/hour

ABOUT GREAT ACHIEVERS (GA)
21st Century Community Learning Center - Great Achievers is funded by a grant through the Indiana Department of Education. We provide homework help as well as math, reading, and science lessons and activities throughout the week, with the main objective being to increase the math and language arts skills of the children that attend the program.
First through Fifth grade children are chosen from Teacher and School Personnel Recommendations. The program takes place Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Click HERE to learn more about the GA program!
ABOUT MARING-HUNT LIBRARY (MH)
Maring-Hunt Library is located between South View Elementary School and the Wilson Apartments on the south side of Muncie. This branch offers a circulating collection of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and more. MH also provides free public access computer use, free Wi-Fi, low-cost printing and copying, free programs on a variety of subjects, story times for children, programming for teens, book clubs for adults, and community meeting space. Ready Readers early literacy program and Great Achievers after school program are located in Maring-Hunt Library. Free Notary service is available by appointment. Maring-Hunt Library also has an expansive green space that provides pavilions for gatherings, community garden space, a health track, and a StoryWalk book trail.
POSITION PURPOSE
To assist Great Achievers Supervisor and Lead Teachers by providing support for 21st Century Community Learning Center (Great Achievers program).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform these functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Assist Lead Teacher(s) and Great Achievers Supervisor with lesson planning
  • Assist students with homework and lessons for assigned classroom
  • Assist with managing student behavior and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Maintain safety of students traveling to and from the school, on field trips, or home
  • Assist Great Achievers Supervisor and Lead Teachers with other tasks as required
  • Follow USDA and CACFP meal pattern when providing afterschool snacks

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting
