Job description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These requirements are a representation of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as an exhaustive list of specific duties and responsibilities. Employee may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Prepares and delivers didactic kinesiology concepts, in areas such as research methods, resistance training and conditioning, exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription.
- Maintains expertise in content.
- Collaborates with faculty to develop course and student experiences.
- Conduct all scheduled classes and promote a supportive learning environment for student success.
- Maintain and distribute a syllabus for each assigned course, managing course content and requirements effectively.
- Keep accurate records of student attendance and grades in line with academic schedules.
- Assess student work and evaluate course outcomes.
- Engage in frequent communication with students, faculty, and staff, offering assistance to students outside of class time as needed.
- Complete and submit all required documentation and participate in mandatory university meetings.
- Collaborate with the Department Chair/Dean to address class-related concerns or student issues.
- Masters degree in exercise science or related field from an accredited institution required, but doctorate preferred.
- Demonstrated experience teaching in undergraduate courses preferred.
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and / or the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) preferred.
- Collaborative approach to working with faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to handle situations with tact, professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Creative, dynamic, and innovative teaching methods.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Possess a vitality of Christian experience that is maturing in insight and application.
Candidates should have belief in and commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith as interpreted through the historic witness of the Bible and the contemporary ministry of the Holy Spirit.
