Job description

DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT: This is a non-exempt, temporary, part time, seasonal position, limited to 1,300 hours annually, under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator. Concessions Staff are responsible for assisting in preparing location and area for day-to-day operations, food preparation, accurate accounting of all transactions while providing customer service skills and positive attitudes. This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.

It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required for the position. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Food and beverage preparation and service Ensures quality of products and provide outstanding customer service by being friendly, tactful, professional and courteous. Restocking food and beverages items Perform daily cleaning duties of workstations and equipment at the concession site.

IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS: Operates Point of Sale system (POS). Responsible for cash register operations to include accurately collecting and depositing money. Makes change and issues receipts to customers.

Ensures a quality appearance of the concession site at all times; ensures that all workstations at the concession site and the back of concession site and storerooms remain clean and organized. Greets the public and answers questions, responds to inquiries from staff and customers. Maintains a professional appearance at all times as to both dress and personal hygiene.

Completes any necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports and inventory. Performs other duties as assigned. May perform the duties of similar classifications of an equal or lower pay grade.

Physical Requirements: The physical standards an employee must meet to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to: Must have the ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation. Frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movements including sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, twisting, and balancing. Frequently stands for prolonged periods of time.

Ability to hear verbal instructions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates positive attitude and neat professional appearance Ability to cooperatively work with other staff in a confined workspace.

Ability to operate equipment necessary to proficiently operate concession site. Ability to keep quality written reports. Ability to follow directions, be a quick thinker, dependable and show good safety awareness and judgment.

Ability to listen, communicate, and work effectively with a diverse group of people. Ability to work at least 6 to 8 hours with constant walking bending, reaching, standing, lifting, stretching, and twisting. Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include mornings, weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.

Ability to work successfully with and provide good customer service to supervisors, other City employees, the public and other agencies and organizations. Ability to perform all job duties in a safe manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities, the individual must: Be 16 years of age or older.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The applicant may have a math quiz administered to demonstrate ability to add and subtract. This position involves regular exposure to dust, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes. All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment.

Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination. Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.
