Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Short-Form Content Strategist based in Netherlands.

This role will shape the strategy, structure, and performance of short-form video content across fast-moving social platforms.
You will guide content from concept and editing through publication, focusing on hooks, pacing, retention, and compelling payoff moments.
Your poker expertise will help identify the hands, stories, and moments most likely to create genuine tension, humour, and engagement.
You will use performance data to identify winning formats, refine creative standards, and determine where to scale or retire content concepts.
The role combines creative strategy, audience psychology, content analytics, and hands-on collaboration with editors and creatives.
You will operate as a senior individual contributor with significant influence over the creative direction and quality of the content output.
This is an opportunity to help build a highly recognisable short-form content presence within the dynamic online poker and gaming space.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the day-to-day structural direction of short-form content, reviewing reels and shorts and providing clear guidance on hooks, retention structure, pacing, payoff placement, and platform-native execution.
  • Apply strong poker knowledge and audience psychology to identify hands, moments, stories, and formats with genuine potential for drama, humour, tension, and shareability.
  • Brief editors and creatives on content structure and provide actionable feedback designed to measurably improve the quality and performance of the final output.
  • Develop, test, and refine repeatable short-form content formats, using performance data to determine which concepts should be scaled, adapted, or retired.
  • Conduct weekly performance reviews at the individual-content level, analysing reach, hook retention, watch-through, shares, saves, and other relevant engagement indicators.
  • Translate performance insights into clear iteration summaries, updated creative guidelines, and improved briefing standards.
  • Raise the overall structural and creative standard of the editing team through consistent feedback, documented best practices, and practical examples of high-performing content.
  • Identify high-performing organic content and recommend suitable candidates for paid amplification or performance marketing support.
  • Collaborate with creative, CRM, ambassador, and other relevant teams on campaigns, partnerships, and content initiatives.
  • Monitor social platform algorithm changes, emerging formats, audience behaviours, and competitor activity, sharing relevant insights and recommendations with the wider team.
  • Operate as a senior individual contributor, influencing content direction through expertise, briefs, standards, and feedback rather than direct people management.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of growing short-form video audiences for a brand, publisher, creator, media property, or personal channel, supported by measurable performance results.
  • Strong understanding of poker, including the ability to read a hand and recognise the moments that are strategically interesting, dramatic, entertaining, or humorous to a poker audience.
  • Deep knowledge of short-form content performance metrics, including hook retention, watch-through, shares, saves, reach, and audience engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience using performance data to run structured test-and-iterate processes and translate insights into improved creative decisions.
  • Strong ability to brief editors and creatives at the structural level, particularly around hooks, pacing, narrative progression, payoff placement, and platform-specific formatting.
  • Excellent understanding of audience psychology and social platform mechanics, with the ability to distinguish lasting content principles from temporary trends.
  • Strong creative judgment combined with an analytical and performance-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and feedback skills, with the ability to clearly explain why specific creative approaches are likely to perform.
  • Comfortable working independently as a senior individual contributor, taking ownership of content strategy and influencing output without relying on direct reports.
  • Experience working within the online poker industry is highly valuable.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Fully remote working arrangement with flexible working hours.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of online gaming, content, and emerging technology.
  • Collaborative and inclusive international team culture.
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities.
  • High degree of autonomy and ownership over content strategy and creative direction.
  • Opportunity to influence the growth of short-form content across a rapidly evolving digital audience.
  • Exposure to a dynamic environment where creative experimentation and data-driven decision-making are strongly valued.
