About the job Forklift Operator
Summary

    Warehouse Forklift Drivers are individual contributors responsible for following established procedures and guidelines, operating a forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. Warehouse Forklift Drivers operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries. Moving items to and from storage areas, machines, loading docks, vans, trucks, or storage facilities. This role will assist in receiving, handling, stocking, and storing, recording, and dispatching goods in a warehouse or distribution center.
    Hours: Mon-Fri, shift may range from 6am-630pm, there may be mandatory OT.
    Temp to hire.
    Will use cherry picker and stand-up forklift. At least 1 year of forklift operator experience operating stand-up forklifts and order pickers required, 2+ years preferred.
    Will be assigned a primary position, but must be willing to do different tasks each day as required, such as sorting, loading, picking, packing, receiving, put away, etc.
    Once trained, majority of day will be spent driving, but may be asked to assist in other areas of the warehouse.
    It can be noisy at times.
    Accuracy is preferred over speed of work.
    Must be open to working all aspects of the warehouse as listed above.
    Basic computer skills or RF scanner experience needed, will need to read hand held RF scanners to pick items.
    This is a same day ship facility. It is very fast paced.
    Daily morning meeting to discuss workload for the day, if an associate has any issues, they are open to discuss then or ask the manager to discuss privately.
    Site policy: it is permissible to listen to music/a podcast with one earbud only. Active phone conversations, screens out, two earbuds in not permitted.
    Attendance policy: in addition to regular attendance, there is a 5 minute grace period before someone is considered late. Strict enforcement of lunch and break times.
    Basic math skills needed.
    Good attendance and strong work ethic will make someone successful in this role.
    May lift up to 50# on occasion.
    There will be an bump in pay once converted to FTE.

Responsibilities
    Safely and properly operates warehouse equipment to complete tasks (e.g., forklifts, cherry-picking lifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse machinery).
    Before and after each shift, completes the equipment logs and daily forklift inspection form.
    Ensures the maintenance of company forklifts by keeping all moving parts well lubricated; ensure forklift gauges function properly and equipment is charged or fueled and fluid levels are adequate for operation.
    Unloads materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles, receives and puts away incoming goods and merchandise; unpacks bales, crates, and other containers; checks for damage and for discrepancies between goods and invoices; may install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit from truck to warehouse and/or shelving.

    Completes shipments by processing and loading orders; reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
    Prepares, picks, packs, and dispatches outgoing goods and merchandise according to written or verbal requests or work orders; uses pick sheets in various formats (paper or electronic) to locate items within the warehouse; removes products from warehouse shelves and places products on pallets, with a pallet jack or forklift, following stacking policies to prevent product damage; verifies product and quantity accuracy.
    Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
    Assists in inventory level maintenance and inventory counts.
    Responsible for following warehouse safety regulations.
    Performs other duties as assigned.
    Requirements
      Job Qualifications:
      3+ months relevant experience and/or training. High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
      Relevant experience and/or aptitude should include:
      Valid certification to operate forklifts or the ability to obtain such certification within the specified time period as defined by management.
      Loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse environment; forklift / cherry picker experience preferred.
      Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
      Basic computer knowledge and proficiency and/or a demonstrated technical aptitude to learn; preferred technical skills to include but not limited to MS-Office products, Vista, Control, SX.e, Prophet 21.
      Demonstration of basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals); ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent preferred.
      Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
      Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
      Demonstration of attention to detail.
