Job description

Reflex Performance Resources is a leader in activewear and athleisure apparel, selling across DTC, wholesale, and major retail partners. We are seeking a full-time Technical Designer (Fit) to join our New York City team. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities.

Position Purpose

The Technical Designer (Fit) will manage the product integrity of merchandise across assigned departments, ensuring products achieve the fit, construction, and quality standards required to meet customer expectations, align with brand positioning, and support design and merchandising objectives.

Core Accountabilities

  • Manage the technical design product life cycle from initial sketch through to production fit approval.

  • Develop and maintain tech packs throughout the line creation process.

  • Lead account fit sessions to establish brand aesthetic, silhouette, and proportion within the price point for assigned categories.

  • Create and maintain specification packages that balance design vision with financial goals.

  • Collaborate with design, merchandising, and account partners to align on aesthetic, fit intent, and construction.

  • Develop specifications and garment construction methods from initial style development through cost engineering for bulk production.

  • Resolve technical issues related to fit, construction, grading, fabric application, and cost.

  • Communicate fit intent and revisions to overseas factories and account partners via notes, diagrams, pattern corrections, and photos.

  • Evaluate prototypes and fit samples for measurement, construction accuracy, and quality.

  • Ensure consistency in aesthetic, fit, and construction across all styles within assigned categories.

  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure calendar milestones are met and garment delivery deadlines are maintained.

  • Identify and resolve potential production, quality, and costing issues proactively.

  • Provide technical expertise at key milestone meetings.

  • Monitor market fit and styling trends to inform product quality and fit improvements.

  • Review customer feedback to identify and implement product corrections.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of apparel technical design experience.

  • College degree, certificate program, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Proven expertise in apparel fitting, spec/block creation, and pattern correction/manipulation.

  • Strong project management skills and critical attention to detail.

  • Confident and effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Excel; PLM systems and Adobe Illustrator experience a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams, account partners, and overseas affiliates.
