Connect Staffing is hiring an HR Assistant for an oil-and-gas drilling equipment manufacturer and rental company in Houston, TX. This is a temporary office position paying $18-$24/hr. In this role, you will support the HR Generalist with employee records, HRIS updates, recruiting coordination, and new hire onboarding. The assignment is expected to run approximately 30 days with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities
- Support the HR Generalist with daily HR tasks, documentation, and department projects in an office environment serving a multi-site oil and gas manufacturing operation.
- Maintain and update employee records, personnel files, and HRIS entries following confidentiality and company procedures.
- Schedule interviews, coordinate candidate communication, and maintain recruiting documentation.
- Prepare new hire paperwork, onboarding materials, and orientation documents.
- Track pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screens, and required documentation.
- Scan, organize, and maintain both electronic and physical employee files.
- Direct employee questions and sensitive matters to the appropriate HR contact.
Minimum Requirements
- 1+ year of experience in HR administration, HR coordination, or a related administrative support role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting recruiting activities, including interview scheduling and candidate tracking.
- Familiarity with onboarding workflows and new hire documentation.
- Experience handling confidential personnel files and sensitive employee information with discretion.
- Exposure to HR operations in a manufacturing, industrial, or field-services environment.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience using an HRIS (Human Resources Information System) to update and maintain employee records.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
