To thrive as a Temp RN, you need a current RN license, a solid grasp of clinical procedures, and recent nursing experience, often across multiple care settings. Familiarity with various electronic health record (EHR) systems, patient monitoring technologies, and facility-specific protocols is important for immediate effectiveness. However, strong communication skills, flexibility, and a proactive approach to orientation can help Temp RNs integrate smoothly and provide high-quality patient care.

Temp RNs can work in a variety of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes, and may be employed directly or through staffing agencies. They perform the same duties as permanent RNs, including patient care, administering medications, and collaborating with healthcare teams. This flexible role provides opportunities for nurses to gain diverse experience and work in different locations. Temporary assignments can range from a few days to several months, depending on the employer's needs.
