Ball State University Recreation Services is looking to add additional members to its staff, a temporary lifeguard position for the summer. Recreation Services, a department within Business and Auxiliary Services, has a reputation of managing facilities and programs in a safe, customer service oriented, and professional way. Recreation Services is looking for someone with the appropriate qualifications, certifications, and demeanor to be a temporary lifeguard for the summer.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

Maintain safe and effective use of Ball State University pools.

Job Duties:

  • Monitor all safety and customer service aspects of Lewellen Aquatic Center and Ball Pool during hours of operation.

  • Enforce Recreation Services policies and procedures.

  • Test and monitor pool water chemistry and temperature.

  • Maintain accurate pool participation procedures and counts.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current certification in Lifeguard, First-aid,CPRfor the Professional Rescuer from a nationally recognized organization (American Red Cross, StarGuard,YMCA, Ellis, etc.)

  • Current certification in Lifeguard, First-aid,CPRfor the Professional Rescuer from a nationally recognized organization (American Red Cross, StarGuard,YMCA, Ellis, etc.)

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.

Preferred Experience:

  • Additional experience lifeguarding in public pool setting.
