What is a temp company?

A temp company, also known as a temporary staffing agency, connects employers with workers for short-term or project-based positions. These agencies help businesses fill workforce gaps due to employee absences, seasonal workloads, or special projects. For job seekers, temp companies provide opportunities to gain experience, earn income, and potentially transition into permanent roles. Temp companies handle recruitment, payroll, and employment paperwork, making the process easier for both employers and employees.

What are some common challenges faced when working for a temp company, and how can I prepare for them?

Working for a temp company often means adapting quickly to new environments, teams, and job responsibilities. Some common challenges include learning new systems on short notice, managing uncertainty regarding assignment length, and building rapport with permanent staff. To succeed, it's helpful to maintain a flexible mindset, communicate clearly with both the temp agency and on-site supervisors, and be proactive about seeking feedback. Being reliable and adaptable can lead to more assignment opportunities and even permanent placements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temp Agency Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temp Agency Recruiter, you need strong talent sourcing, interviewing, and job matching skills, often supported by experience in human resources or staffing. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, and resume databases is typically required. Job description

Residential Service Technician — Comfort Temp Heating and Air
Company Culture
At Comfort Temp Company, we don't hang our values on a wall and forget about them. Do what you say. Do what it takes. Walk with purpose. Do the right thing. These are the standards we hold each other to — in the field, in the office, and in every conversation. We invest in our people, recognize the work that gets done, and make room for careers that actually grow. If you want a place where your effort shows up and matters, this is it. Comfort Temp Company is a family of mechanical contracting and HVAC service businesses headquartered in Gainesville, Florida, with operations in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa. Our companies include CT Mechanical, a commercial mechanical contracting division specializing in plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects, and Comfort Temp Heating and Air, our residential and light commercial HVAC and plumbing service division. We build careers the same way we build projects — with intention, accountability, and craftsmanship.

  • Certification through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to handle refrigerants.
  • Proficiency with manual and power tools used in HVAC repair and installation.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated reliability and self-motivation in previous roles.
Benefits
At Comfort Temp Company, we believe in supporting our employees' well-being and professional growth through a comprehensive benefits package. Our benefits, available after 90 days of employment, include:

  • Voluntary life insurance options
  • A company tool account
  • Holiday pay for six holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas), plus Veterans Day off for veterans
We also offer a 401(k) plan with up to 4% company match, a $300 annual gym membership reimbursement, and professional development opportunities such as Dale Carnegie courses.
