Job description

Overview
Nakupuna Consulting is seeking to hire a Telecommunications Technician Mid to support United States Marine Corps (USMC) installations at Marine Corps Base Camp (MCB) Pendleton, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, MCAS Yuma, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) 29 Palms, Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MCMWTC) Bridgeport, and Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Barstow, with additional support at other military installations as required. Nakupuna Consulting supports the US Marine Corps by providing installation and infrastructure services for network switches, wireless access points (WAPs), desk phones, structured cabling, and associated telecommunications equipment.
The Telecommunications Technician Mid will support installation teams with the deployment, testing, labeling, and organization of telecommunications and network infrastructure equipment in support of government customers. This position serves as a working team lead responsible for assisting with field coordination, supporting junior technicians, and ensuring installation activities are completed in accordance with project schedules and technical requirements under the direction of the Lead Engineer.
Responsibilities

  • Transport network and telecommunications equipment, tools, and materials between warehouses, staging areas, and user sites.
  • Install, mount, patch, label, and test network switches, wireless access points (WAPs), desk phones, patch panels, and associated telecommunications equipment.
  • Route, dress, terminate, and label structured cabling in telecommunications closets, server racks, and user workspaces.
  • Assist with coordinating day-to-day activities of installation personnel under the direction of the Lead Engineer.
  • Provide installation guidance and task coordination to junior installation personnel during field activities.
  • Assist engineering and installation teams in executing telecommunications infrastructure projects in accordance with technical requirements and project schedules.
  • Assist the Lead Engineer in verifying installations are completed in accordance with project standards, labeling requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain accountability of equipment, tools, installation materials, and deployed assets.
  • Load and unload equipment, tools, and materials from transportation vehicles.
  • Dispose of obsolete equipment and installation waste in accordance with site procedures and safety requirements.
  • Follow all site safety, security, access, and timekeeping procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications: Self-Motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of supporting and guiding small installation teams in dynamic work environments.
  • Basic competency in the use of hand tools and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications, structured cabling, or network equipment installations required.
  • Ability to provide guidance and coordination to junior installation personnel during field activities.
  • Strong communication skills and professional work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and physically demanding environments.
  • Must hold a valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving history.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum 3+years of experience supporting telecommunications, structured cabling, wireless access point, desk phone, or network infrastructure installations is required. Experience assisting with field coordination or leading small installation efforts is preferred.
Location: Work will primarily be performed at USMC installations MCB Pendleton, MCAS Miramar, MCAS Yuma, MCAGCC 29 Palms, MCMWTC Bridgeport, MCLB Barstow, with potential support at additional military installations within the United States as required.
Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must, at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in office, warehouse, telecommunications, and active installation environments.
  • Ability to use ladders and perform installations above ceiling spaces or elevated mounting locations when required.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $65,000.00 to $85,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
