Job description

You are an experienced and versatile Health, Safety & Environmental professional with extensive experience in a fast paced, dynamic, industrial construction environment.
As the HS&E Manager, you will be responsible for mentoring, coaching, directing, and supporting the Region's HS&E professionals in their work with the operations team(s) and to verify effective application of the HS&E program. Reporting to the Director of HS&E, you will be a member of the operating group's HS&E management team to develop and enhance the culture within Ledcor.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the HS&E management team to achieve industry leading HS&E performance.

  • Mentors and coaches HS&E employees on their job performance and professional development.

  • Builds an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness among the HS&E team and with other functional areas within the organization.

  • Participates with regional operations in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of HS&E personnel.

  • Works with HS&E management to identify, develop and verify effective implementation of HS&E programs.

  • Works to create alignment between HS&E and operations by providing guidance on how HS&E objectives, expectations, processes, and programs fit with operational objectives.

  • Analyzes leading / lagging indicators and other metrics for undesirable trends and employs a continuous improvement approach by recommending the development of new programs and enhancing the effectiveness of existing programs.

  • Conducts site visits, performs compliance inspections and verification audits.

  • Participates in complex Incident Investigations.

Requirements:

  • 3+ year's relevant industrial Health and Safety experience in a management/ leadership position.

  • 5+ years minimum experience in industrial construction, telecom or related industry, with relevant health and safety experience

  • Possession of Technical/functional expertise, including strong computer, MS Office, and presentations skillset.

  • Degree/Diploma in OH&S or related discipline is an asset.

  • Possession/ Pursuit of National Construction Safety Officer designation (NCSO), CRSP or any related HS&E designation

  • Able to effectively lead and mentor the development of HS&E professionals to further expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with both internal employees and external organizations.

  • Ability to participate in candid, open and honest dialogue with regional operations and HS&E staff, and with senior management.

  • Self-directed leader withsuperiorwritten and verbal communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Have a broad working knowledge of different regulatory jurisdictions and frameworks.

  • Possess intermediate-level knowledge and experience in health and safety management system development and implementation.

  • Experience in conducting / supervising sensitive investigations conducted under legal privilege all while respecting the requirements to provide information to regulatory authorities.

  • Possesses a valid driver's license with a reasonably infraction-free driving record.
