Description:Director of Construction – Telecom (OSP)

Full-Time | RLM Underground


Company Overview

RLM Underground, established in 2016, specializes in underground telecom construction across the Midwest. Our rapid growth has expanded our capabilities into full-turnkey telecommunications construction, with operating locations throughout the United States. We partner with regional Telco providers to deliver high-quality, reliable OSP construction services.


Position Summary

RLM Underground is seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead and oversee all field operations for our OSP construction projects. This role requires a proactive, organized leader who can manage teams, coordinate resources, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.


Opportunities available in both Northern and Southern Regions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct OSP field teams in daily and weekly planning
  • Supervise subcontractors and monitor performance, productivity, and safety
  • Track construction progress and report schedule updates to senior leadership
  • Review vendor contracts and ensure compliance with company standards
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
  • Conduct Construction Completion Walkdowns and oversee punch-list closeout
  • Support client communication and relationship management
  • Approve equipment rentals and oversee material usage
  • Hold weekly coordination meetings with crews
  • Review extra work authorizations, back charges, and subcontractor payment requests
  • Enforce safety, quality, and production expectations
  • Serve as on-site Safety Representative when needed
  • Maintain general knowledge of all construction disciplines and support leads as required
  • Monitor and manage regular and overtime hours

Salary Range

$100K - $115K plus a quarterly bonus structure (typically up to10% of base salary). Eligibility following 90-days of employment.

Requirements:Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in construction, engineering, OSP, or related fields
  • Several years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn and use industry-specific software and tools
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, coaching, and communication skills
  • Strong experience in telecommunications construction is required
  • Knowledge of fiber-optic networks, FTTx, and Gigabit platforms
  • Understanding of project budgeting, project controls, and contract labor management
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
