What is a telecom manager?

Telecom Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and operation of telecommunication systems within an organization. They manage teams, coordinate with vendors, and ensure that voice, data, and video communication networks are reliable, secure, and efficient. Telecom Managers also develop policies, plan upgrades, and resolve issues to support business communication needs. Their role requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to stay current with emerging technologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a telecom manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Telecom Manager, you need in-depth knowledge of telecommunications systems, network management, and project coordination, typically supported by a degree in telecommunications, IT, or a related field. Experience with tools like VoIP platforms, network monitoring software, and relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+ is highly valuable. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are essential soft skills for managing teams and coordinating across departments. These skills ensure reliable network performance, efficient operations, and successful delivery of telecom projects in a fast-evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities
As the Product Manager, Data Center Energy Infrastructure Solutions, you will lead the definition and delivery of next-generation energy solutions for data center applications. You will be responsible for shaping Delta's transition from discrete product offerings to integrated, resilient, and future-ready power system architectures that support AI-scale compute, sustainability goals, and extreme reliability requirements.
This role requires deep technical understanding of BESS, PV, hydrogen-based power, solid-state power conversion, microgrid controls, and advanced power architectures, combined with strong product leadership and customer engagement. You will work closely with system engineering, R&D, teams, and strategic partners to develop solutions spanning on-site generation, storage, and intelligent power management.
  1. Solution Strategy & Architecture
  • Define and communicate the solution vision, strategy, and value proposition for data center energy infrastructure solutions, aligned with Delta's long-term growth objectives.
  • Propose MV to building power system architectures for data center power solutions, including utility interface, distribution, energy storage, on-site generation, and control layers.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year solution roadmap incorporating emerging technologies (e.g., hydrogen, SSTs, super caps, grid-forming inverters) and evolving data center requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends across hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure, grid constraints, and sustainability regulations to ensure Delta remains a technology leader.
  1. Solution Development & Customer Engagement
  • Develop deep expertise across Delta's energy infrastructure portfolio, including:
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • PV and grid-forming inverters
    • Microgrid and energy management controls
    • Solid-state transformers
    • Super capacitors
    • Emerging low-carbon and long-duration energy technologies (e.g., hydrogen)
  • Collaborate with key data center customers, developers, IPPs, EPCs, and partners to:
    • Understand technical, commercial, and reliability requirements
    • Define solution requirements and use cases
    • Quantify market opportunities and ROI
  • Lead solution definition from concept through launch, working with:
    • System and electrical architecture teams
    • Global R&D and product engineering groups
    • Microgrid controls teams
  • Identify, evaluate, and select strategic technology partners to fill gaps where required.
  1. Go-to-Market, Launch & Lifecycle Management
  • Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies for data center energy infrastructure solutions, including positioning, differentiation, and target customer segments.
  • Create high-quality solution collateral, including:
    • System architecture documents
    • Technical reference designs
    • Application guides and value propositions
  • Support Sales and Business Development through:
    • Customer presentations and technical workshops
    • Solution selection guidance and system trade-off analysis
    • Pricing and commercial strategy input
  • Own solutions from concept through deployment, ensuring alignment with customer needs and portfolio strategy.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Product Management Experience: 5+ years in product or solution management roles focused on energy infrastructure or mission-critical power systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of data center power systems, including grid interconnection, BESS, inverter-based resources, microgrids, and advanced power electronics.
  • System-Level Thinking: Proven ability to define and manage complex, multi-discipline system architectures rather than standalone products.

  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear value propositions.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically as required, with occasional international travel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience specifically supporting hyperscale or colocation data centers, AI infrastructure, or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements, grid codes, and standards (IEEE, UL, IEC, NEC, etc.).
  • Experience with hydrogen systems, long-duration energy storage, or solid-state power technologies.
  • Knowledge of microgrid controls, EMS, and grid-forming power electronics.
