Job description

Surgical Technologist
Overview:
As an essential part of the surgical team, you'll take the lead in ensuring every procedure runs safely, smoothly, and efficiently. Working under minimal direction from the Nurse Manager, you'll bring expertise, precision, and teamwork to every operating room experience - from setup to post-procedure support.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead with skill and confidence: Plan, prepare, and scrub for a wide range of surgical operations, anticipating surgeon needs and adapting to the flow of each case.
  • Own the environment: Maintain a sterile, organized, and safe operating room while ensuring every detail supports patient safety and excellent outcomes.
  • Master the tools: Assemble, operate, and maintain both simple and complex surgical equipment - including specialized OR technology such as surgical drills and sterilization systems.
  • Guard against infection: Monitor sterilizers and sterilization processes to ensure compliance and uphold the highest infection control standards.
  • Be a team cornerstone: Collaborate seamlessly with surgeons, nurses, and support staff to deliver exceptional surgical care and contribute to the department's success.

Hourly Pay Rate: $25.96 - $38.29
Qualifications
Education:
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have graduated from a vocational program for Surgical Technicians or technologists.
  • Three (3) years of on-the-job training experience may be accepted in lieu of completion of a vocational program.

Experience:
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible Surgical Tech in a multi-specialty complex cases experience demonstrating an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Prefer three to five (3-5) years of experience with diverse surgical specialties.

Certification/Licensure:
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) is required and must be maintained.
  • Within three months, a BLS card must be obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center.
  • Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
  • Requires specialized knowledge and skills in OR practices.
  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance and encourage collaborative staff and community relationships.
  • Must be able to lead and mentor other staff.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and be familiar with operating procedures to have instruments ready for surgeons.
