Seeking an experienced Technical Training Instructor on a training program for technical research, development, and engineering by providing instructional expertise to newly developed courses. Initially the instructor will support the occupational onboarding course that will be approximately two weeks long and will run approximately four times per year, and longer term will include other courses as the occupational curriculum expands. The ideal candidate should be familiar with basic instructional and course design principles to help build course curriculum. The training may include blended and distance learning solutions, along with asynchronous and synchronous approaches to training. The candidate will also help carry out training evaluations, and support creation of a variety of training products such as guides, handbooks, and job aids. The training will emphasize student-centered, experiential learning that requires strong facilitation skills. The candidate will assist with asserting student performance, monitor progress and provide feedback. The candidate will assist the training team with course reviews and modifications between course running's.
The position is located in Chantilly, VA.
Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree (four years of relevant experience may substitute in lieu of a degree) and (15) years or more of related experience. Masters and (13) years or more experience; PhD or JD and (10) years or more experience.
  • More than five years (5) years of experience providing training within the IC.
  • 5 years of experience within the IC in any of the following: Targeting, Technical Operations, or Technical Research, Development or Engineering.
  • 1 year of experience teaching or delivering to adult learners within the IC.
  • Demonstrated ability to tailor communication and proven ability to facilitate small and large groups of people with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt new technologies for knowledge management and/or tailoring of technology to support learning needs.
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter, to team effectively, regularly work outside your comfort zone, and to adapt to emerging technologies and evolving requirements.
  • Familiarity with all or most of the following tools: Learning Management Systems, Collaboration Tools, MS OneNote, WordPress, Adobe Captivate, Multimedia tools including the Adobe Creative suite.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment and partnering across the IC.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Certificate in Training, Facilitation, Teaching, and/or learning from a professional organization strongly preferred (e.g. Foundations in Teaching and Learning, offered by Udemy).
  • Extensive experience within the IC supporting multiple missions.
  • Experience supporting more than one area of technical expertise (Targeting, Technical Operations, or Technical Research, Development, or Engineering).
  • Advanced degree in Science, Engineering, or Education.
  • Adult learning experience teaching technical courses using a broad range of modalities (synchronous, asynchronous, instructor led, web-based training, virtual training and/or blended courses).
