Job Description:

The Optical Network team has an immediate opening for a Technical Program Manager.

You will be responsible for developing and managing optical network infrastructure programs including DWDM system deployments, capacity restoration initiatives, and network automation projects.

The programs require timely execution with the highest degrees of security, performance, availability, and reliability.

You will act as a bridge between Network Development Engineers, Operations teams, and all internal customers that rely on our optical infrastructure. Other responsibilities include defining technical requirements, planning delivery, and coordinating cross-functional program execution.


The TPM will provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.


We are a dynamic team within AWS Networking that operates one of the world's largest optical networks at Pbps scale. You will have the opportunity to make an impact on critical infrastructure that powers AWS globally.


Requirements:

An undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related technical field plus 5-8 years industry experience in technical program management, network engineering, or software development is required

Understanding of DWDM/optical network systems, fiber infrastructure, and optical transport networks a plus

Good track record of working effectively across different groups in the organization

A record of successful delivery of technical programs from conception through deployment

Ability to work with engineering teams to drive deployment of network infrastructure programs

Strong program management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives

Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to get things done

Excellent written and oral communication

Should be familiar with network operations and automation scripting (Python/Bash)

Experience coordinating on-groundwork execution, scheduling field activities, and managing hardware/device delivery timelines

Ability to manage vendor relationships and coordinate external resources for network deployments

Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills across multiple teams and leadership levels
