Job description

SUMMARY

Maranatha Christian Academy is an influential school of collaborators, innovators, and explorers grounded in Christian faith, and empowering co-creators of tomorrow. The associate head coach will collaborate with the head coach to build a program with a solid foundation that teaches student-athletes technical and tactical skills along with other valuable life skills through competition.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Train and develop assistant coaches.

Meet with middle school coaches regularly and develop them as coaches.

Complete all MSHSL and MSCHSA coach requirements.

Schedule and assist with directing a pre-season interest meeting for families.

Attending a pre-season meeting with the athletic director.

Assist with organizing a community outreach team activity.

Assist with developing a summer camp and summer training program.

Develop a spiritual development plan for the season.

Assist with planning special event nights such as youth night, parent night, senior night, teacher appreciation, etc.

Assist with planning a varsity team retreat and team building day.

Meet with the strength coach to make a strength and conditioning plan for the season.

Train athletes in a productive way that fits within the scope of the philosophy of Mustang Athletics.

Assist with developing a youth program.

Assist with developing a detailed plan for tryouts and practices.

Input game schedules and update scores and stats on required sites.

Work with athletes on setting and reaching their individual and team goals.

Connect regularly with athletes about their role and skill development.

Meet with captains regularly to develop them as leaders.

Film home/away games and schedule time to meet with the team to watch film if it is available.

Attend a post-season meeting with the athletic director.

Other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with managing high school and middle school assistant coaches. Communicate with coaches and develop them in a way that fits the culture of the program. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures as outlined in the MCA Coaches' Handbook. Responsibilities include training coaches; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
