This role is for a Technical Advisor & Chief of Staff to the VP of Applied Science, Alexa AI.
Join us as a Technical Strategy Partner where you'll shape the future of Alexa AI by collaborating with leadership to define multi-year research and engineering strategies. You'll serve as a trusted advisor on complex technical decisions, bridge cross-functional teams, and drive organizational excellence across applied science and AI/ML initiatives that impact millions of customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with leadership to define and evolve the multi-year applied science and AI/ML research strategy, ensuring alignment with broader organizational transformation goals and emerging technical trends
- Synthesize technical inputs from across science and engineering teams into coherent, actionable recommendations for senior leadership on complex architectural decisions and trade-offs
- Act as a connective bridge between Alexa AI and adjacent science and engineering organizations, driving resolution of cross-cutting technical problems that require visibility and coordination across teams
- Own the organizational rhythm and execution cadence-including planning cycles, business reviews, and goal-setting processes-while ensuring decisions are clearly documented and communicated throughout the organization
- Lead strategic communications and planning initiatives, including developing organization-wide narratives, strategy documents, and leadership updates that articulate our technical vision and priorities
A day in the life
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of strategy and execution within our Alexa AI organization. Your day might include synthesizing technical inputs from principal scientists and senior engineers into clear recommendations for leadership, facilitating design reviews that resolve ambiguous technical challenges spanning multiple teams, or preparing comprehensive briefing documents for high-stakes planning cycles. You'll collaborate with colleagues across applied science and engineering to identify emerging opportunities in areas like large language models and personalization systems, then help translate those insights into organizational priorities. Beyond regular coordination meetings, you'll represent our leadership in technical forums, surface risks before they escalate, and ensure decisions made in key meetings are clearly documented and acted upon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience technical product management
- 10+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
- Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams
- Experience driving the strategic planning process

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
