Job Summary:

The IT Director at NorthStar Energy is responsible for leading the organization's information technology department and overseeing all aspects of IT infrastructure, systems, and operations. This role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills to ensure the efficient and secure use of technology across the company.


Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute the IT strategy aligned with NorthStar Energy's business objectives.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, systems, and networks.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data, information systems, and technology assets.
  • Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and prioritize technology needs and provide effective IT solutions.
  • Manage IT projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and tracking progress.
  • Stay up-to-date with technology trends and advancements to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance, data privacy, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and technology vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as technology partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain a top-tier cybersecurity posture across the enterprise, including threat prevention, detection, incident response, and ongoing risk assessment.
  • Help develop and advance the company's AI strategy, identifying practical applications, governance guardrails, and adoption opportunities across the business.
  • Oversee systems integrations and technology selection, ensuring platforms interoperate effectively and align with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in information technology, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and network architecture.
  • Experience in managing and securing data centers, cloud environments, and hybrid IT infrastructures.
  • Proven track record of successful IT project management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timely delivery.
  • Familiarity with energy industry IT requirements and regulations is a plus.
  • Experience in leading and managing a diverse IT team.
  • Knowledge of IT governance frameworks, such as ITIL or COBIT.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
