What is a tech leader?

Tech Leaders are experienced professionals who guide and support technical teams within organizations. They are responsible for setting technical direction, making key architectural decisions, and ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and meet quality standards. Tech Leaders also mentor team members, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and help resolve technical challenges. Their role is a blend of hands-on technical work and leadership responsibilities, making them crucial for the success of technology-driven projects.

How does a tech leader typically balance hands-on technical work with managerial responsibilities?

As a Tech Leader, you are expected to maintain a careful balance between contributing to technical projects and overseeing the team's progress. While you may still participate in coding or architectural decisions, a significant portion of your time will be dedicated to mentoring team members, facilitating collaboration, and aligning the team's work with business objectives. Successful Tech Leaders often delegate technical tasks when appropriate to focus on strategic planning, stakeholder communication, and resolving blockers for the team. This balance can shift depending on the organization's needs and the team's maturity.
