Position: Emergency Room Intake Technician
Shift: Night Shift (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
This position involves performing various administrative functions, including reception and clerical work within an Emergency Department. The Emergency Room Intake Technician is responsible for greeting incoming patients and completing full patient reception and registration functions, which include entering demographic and insurance information.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist incoming patients in a professional manner.
  • Complete patient reception and registration functions, including the accurate entry of demographic and insurance information.
  • Support Emergency Department Registered Nurses (ED RNs) in caring for patients presenting with life- or limb-threatening conditions, within the scope of an Emergency Room Technician.
  • Assist ED nurses and physicians with various tasks, such as suture setup, assisting during suturing, wound cleaning and bandaging, splinting, and patient extrication from vehicles.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to work hours and tasks as required by the demands of the emergency department.
  • Function effectively in high-stress situations while providing compassionate care to patients.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be licensed in the State of Illinois as an EMT or Paramedic, or have completed a Certified Nursing Assistant program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in an environment where exposure to communicable diseases is possible.
