Job description

Technology Center Technician
Ingersoll Cutting Tools is one of the world's leading suppliers of metal cutting tooling systems and an integral member of the IMC Group of Companies, a distinguished corporate holding of Berkshire Hathaway, with over 130 subsidiaries in 60 countries around the world. Ingersoll's US operations are housed on our state-of-the-art manufacturing and marketing campus in Rockford, Illinois. We are currently accepting applications for a Technology Center Technician.
The Technology Center Technician utilizes their knowledge of CNC machining and CAM programming to give demonstrations to customers and other audiences on Ingersoll Cutting Tool's technology and capabilities. The ideal candidate for the Technician role will enjoy working with people and has a high level of interest in CNC machining and programming. Additionally, this position will require interfacing with ICTC customers on various projects as directed by management. This position involves working closely with ICTC field sales engineers, and product management to achieve customer related testing goals. This includes preparing test reports, CAM simulations and other functions related to serving ICTC customers as directed.
Essential job duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Set up and operate various CNC machines to produce parts for demonstrations.
  • Ability to train others in set-up and operation of various CNC machines.
  • Use CAM software to create toolpath utilized by NC machines, lathes and mills as directed.
  • Identify tools required to cut ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless steel and HRSA materials along with programming those tools accordingly.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Professionally administer demonstrations to a live audience.
  • Assist in trouble shooting and resolving problems with machines as they arise.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, and coolant replenishment.
  • Use inspection tools (scales, rulers, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, dial-indicators, probes).
  • Use of material handling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Always maintain a high level of safe work practices.
  • Continue learning of the tech-center NC machines (operation, maintenance and machine systems).

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a CNC manufacturing environment or CNC certificate.
  • Understanding of CNC toolholder types, CNC work holding systems.
  • Proficient with FANUC NC controls.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience programming and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Proficient at computer programming and CAD/CAM (Experience with Fusion 360, PowerMill, PowerShape, Feature CAM, Part Maker is a plus).
  • Ability to continually learn processes and machining techniques.
  • Proficient or ability to learn MS office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
  • Strong attention to detail and a professional attitude is a must.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certificate, diploma or degree in manufacturing engineering or relevant manufacturing discipline.
  • Basic understanding of part tolerances and GD&T.
  • Understanding and calculating of NC tooling speeds and feeds.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

The salary range for this position is $19-29 an hour depending on experience level.
This is an on-site, full-time position that may require intermittent overtime based on workflow demands (including potential for long shifts and/or weekend work).

Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, possess a good work ethic, demonstrate reliable and punctual work habits, demonstrate safety consciousness, and always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
