About our Company:

Ponte Winery opened in 2003 and is a California based company operating in the heart of the Temecula Wine Country. We have been farming our vineyards since 1984 and are a real working winery, growing and producing over 20 estate grown varietals within certified sustainable facilities.

We are located right next to our Four Diamond, 90 room, boutique hotel Ponte Vineyard Inn. We are surrounded by 300 acres of mature vineyards and views of rolling hills. We are a short drive from most of Southern California and enjoy hosting folks who want a break from city life. Our guests visit us seeking a relaxing day or overnight stay in the country.

We have become the benchmark for great service among Temecula wineries. Our associates are dedicated to delighting guests by providing excellent hospitality and serving great wine and food in a beautiful environment.

Summary:

The Tasting Room Server will provide our guests with a wonderful “Day in the Country” experience by being gracious and respectful hosts.

Compensation: $16.90 hourly + commissions


Hours of Operation:

  • Monday - Sunday
  • 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM


Schedule :

  • Weekends + Holidays are a must.
  • Days + Hours vary by business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests with a smile and respond quickly to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Explain the tasting process and the various wines to the guest before they ask.
  • Pour six tastings per wine club member or guest while carrying on a friendly conversation.
  • Watch for signs of intoxication ensuring guest safety.
  • Drive revenue growth by effectively selling wine, wine club memberships and merchandise to guests.
  • Maximize sales opportunities through proactive engagement and personalized recommendations to enhance guest experience.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets through energetic communication skills and product knowledge.
  • Cultivate lasting relationships with guests by providing exceptional service and fostering a welcoming environment.
  • Contribute to the success of the Tasting Room operation by consistently delivering top-tier sales performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Explain wine club membership benefits and discounts and ask them if they would like to become a member.
  • Assist the guest with wine and merchandise purchases. This is a sales position and requires asking each guest and member for the sale.
    • Performance, commission and schedule are based on sales performance.
  • Thank the guests for coming and ask them to return.
  • Perform additional duties such as stocking wine, setting up the counter, opening bottles, and cleaning as requested by the Tasting Room Manager or Assistant Tasting Room Manager.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be 21 and over.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a standing position for long periods of time, in indoors + outdoors, during inclement weather.
  • Ability and willingness to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Ability and willingness to lift, lower, push, carry, or pull up to 40-50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Ability and willingness to bend, squat, stoop, and climb stairs on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to treat all associates and guests in a respectful manner.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must have exceptional grooming standards that are consistent with company guidelines.
  • 1-3 years in a sales related field.
  • Must have sales ability and be able to up-sell bottles to cases.
  • Must be outgoing and able to approach guests and initiate conversation.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Open availability is preferred. More than 4 scheduled shifts a month is required.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work special events when applicable.
  • Experience with wine desirable but not essential.
  • Positive attitude, good conversational skills and must enjoy all personality types.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to engage the guests in a clear and professional manner.
  • Be willing and able to work well under pressure.
  • Work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Riverside County Food Handler Card.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid ABC RBS (Responsible Alcohol Beverage Server) Certification.
