Job description

Under the direction of a Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor II (TSOS II), the Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor I (TSOS I) supervises and coordinates the work activities of technical staff responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting critical Public Safety Communications (PSC) systems and infrastructure. The incumbent provides leadership and technical oversight for services supporting state and local public safety agencies, including the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), California Highway Patrol (CHP), California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), California Department of Water Resources (DWR), California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), and California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). Duties are performed in compliance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations and require the application of advanced telecommunications knowledge, office-provided training, complex electronic test equipment, computer systems, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical publications.
The TSOS I ensures the reliability, availability, and operational readiness of mission-critical communications systems through effective personnel management, resource coordination, quality assurance, customer service, and adherence to established safety and operational procedures, thereby supporting the continuous delivery of public safety communications services throughout California.

Working Conditions
Hybrid Telework : This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
DMV Pull Program : Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver's License (CDL). The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is an emergency response, homeland security, and disaster recovery agency and as a result, is a dynamic and exciting place to work in a team-oriented environment. The Public Safety Communications (PSC) Technical Services Branch provides a variety of services to PSC and the public safety agencies it serves. The Branch oversees the California Public Safety Microwave Network (CAPSNET), licensing of public safety radio spectrum with the FCC, and a host of ancillary services that support PSC's service delivery.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
