About the Team: 

The Software Integration Engineer supports the full software product lifecycle for automotive powertrain systems, acting as the technical liaison to customers while leading software development, calibration, validation, and release activities from prototype through production. The role requires deep expertise in embedded control systems, automotive software tools, and crossfunctional program management within a heavyduty vehicle environment.

What you can look forward to as Software Integration Engineer:

  • This position is responsible for supporting the software product cycle in the region: new customer functional development initiatives, software development, calibration activities, prototype support, validation, engineering release, truck assembly plant support, and field troubleshooting. 
  • Serve as technical liaison to the customer for software functional changes and software change management processes. 
  • Lead software program deliveries by tracking action items, calibration program timing, and software/calibration releases (including but not limited to, the creation and execution of system-level development and validation test plans, development of functional test procedures and scripting, and performance of verification testing).
  • Manage overall software program details (timeframe, deadlines, cost, trip planning, hardware/software tests, and resource planning)
  • Clearly and professionally communicate plans and results (reports, customer presentations, development test plans and reports, software checklists, etc.) verbally and in writing to manager, coworkers (international & local), industry partners, and customers.
  • Support (on-site as necessary) in any control-system issues arising during customer testing stages related to ZF product (including, but is not limited to, providing technical support for customer prototype and vehicle builds, software and vehicle tests, dynamometer and component tests, and transmission systems integration projects).
  • Support all EOL software and calibration parameter programming initiatives at the OEM assembly plant.
  • Conduct and lead calibration training for others on team in addition to customer.
     

Your profile as Software Integration Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering required, Master's degree in Engineering preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a software development engineer or calibration development engineer within a powertrain development and/or manufacturing environment - specifically within automotive industry. 
  • Experience in real-time embedded software control systems of vehicles. In-depth understanding of electromechanical systems design, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Proficiency and experience with data acquisition, analysis, statistical methods, and development tools (e.g. CANape, CANalyzer, ETAS INCA, etc)
  • Experience with North American Class 3-8 engines preferred
  • Strong knowledge of technical aspects of software applications engineering and product design/development (specifically within a powertrain and/or automotive context).
  • Experience with automotive communication links (SAE J1939; SAE J1587, etc), ABS controls, engine controls, and transmission controls.
  • Ability/willingness to travel (average 30%). 
  • Possession of valid driver's license as well as possession, or ability to obtain, CDL preferred.
