SUMMARY
The System Engineer Manager is responsible for the design, installation, administration, and optimization of the company's storage and computer environment-including Windows, Linux/Unix, Citrix, hypervisors, and related components-to ensure high performance of various business applications. This position manages professional-level employees and is accountable for maintaining optimal performance across business-critical systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects.
  • Ensures projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Provides technical guidance and support in the design, development, and implementation of systems.
  • Automates routine tasks using scripting and develops processes and procedures for ongoing server environment management.
  • Monitors storage usage and resources, and troubleshoots storage-related issues.
  • Ensures the availability of client and server applications and configures new implementations.
  • Communicates project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.


MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and mentors a team of systems engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Sets goals and objectives for team members to achieve operational results.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
  • Strong understanding of load balancing technologies such as NetScaler and BIG-IP.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash to automate tasks and improve efficiency.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Master's Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science required
  • 10+ years related experience, training, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within systems engineering required
