Description

The System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They install hardware and software, build and configure IAAS resources, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization. System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with cloud, computer, server, and network systems to limit work disruptions within the company.

Responsibilities Include

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade cloud components, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Work with the development team to ensure company applications are deployed using best practices

Requirements Include 4+ years experience and

  • Highly proficient at administering, deploying, and troubleshooting IAAS systems including Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Scale Sets, Azure Private End Points, Azure Web Applications, Azure Application Insights
  • Proficient with Microsoft SQL and Azure SQL database configuration, maintenance, deploying, and replication
  • Strong knowledge of administering, deploying, and troubleshooting traditional and IAAS network systems including Azure v-nets, Azure VNG, IPsec tunnels, routing and subnetting, vLAN's, DNS, application and stateful firewalls, Azure Load Balancers, and WiFi
  • Experience using Terraform or another infrastructure as code
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, disaster recovery protocols, and business continuity planning

  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field
