Job description

Position Overview:
The Senior Network Engineer reports to the IT Network Engineering Manager and partners closely with Architecture and Operations teams to design, implement, and support enterprise on-premises network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, and data center environments. This role focuses heavily on route/switch engineering, network security, operational stability, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in enterprise networking technologies, proven troubleshooting capabilities, and solid project management fundamentals to successfully deliver network initiatives from planning through implementation. This position also serves as a senior technical resource and mentor, helping strengthen team capabilities and operational maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support highly available enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center network environments
  • Engineer and maintain enterprise route/switch infrastructure utilizing technologies such as Aruba, Juniper, HPE, Palo Alto and Fortinet.
  • Support firewall and secure connectivity services across core, edge, and remote environments
  • Troubleshoot complex network performance, routing, switching, and connectivity issues while serving as a senior escalation resource
  • Manage infrastructure projects including scope, scheduling, implementation coordination, documentation, and delivery
  • Partner with cross-functional IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to support operational and project objectives
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation
  • Recommend and implement improvements related to network performance, scalability, resiliency, and security
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to operational best practices and technical standards
  • Support after-hours maintenance windows and occasional travel for infrastructure deployments

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience supporting and engineering enterprise network environments with multiple data centers
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise route/switch technologies and network security platforms
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, VPNs, and enterprise routing/switching design
  • Experience supporting enterprise firewall platforms including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and/or Check Point
  • Experience with Aruba, Juniper, and HPE networking technologies preferred
  • Solid understanding of network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SolarWinds
  • Working knowledge of Azure and AWS networking concepts is desirable
  • Proven project management fundamentals with experience managing scope, timelines, and implementation activities
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, NSE, or equivalent are a plus
  • Must reside in the Phoenix metro area and be willing to commute to the Mesa office as needed
  • Must be locally located and comfortable working a 3 days in office hybrid model and 2 days remote
