Operating out of a 35,000 sq. ft., climate-controlled facility, the team of 50 employees utilizes 100+ CNC machines to produce complex, precision-engineered parts. Position Overview

As a Swiss Set-Up Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and optimizing Swiss-style CNC lathes to produce small, high-precision components. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on tight tolerances, intricate part geometry, and maintaining consistency in high-volume production environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC lathes for small, high-precision parts
  • Install guide bushings, collets, and specialized tooling
  • Set tool offsets and align tooling for tight-tolerance work
  • Load and optimize Swiss-type CNC programs
  • Perform first article inspections and maintain tight tolerances (often ±0.0002")
  • Monitor tool wear and make frequent micro-adjustments
  • Handle bar feeders and support high-volume production runs
  • Troubleshoot issues like chatter, deflection, and tool breakage
  • Maintain machine and ensure consistent production quality

Qualifications:

  • 2–5+ years Swiss machining experience
  • Strong understanding of tight-tolerance machining and small-diameter parts
  • Experience with Swiss machines (Tsugami or other)
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Skilled in precision measurement tools (micrometers, optical comparators, etc.)
  • Familiarity with bar feeders and high-volume production
  • Knowledge of exotic materials (titanium, stainless, medical alloys preferred)
  • High attention to detail and consistency
