Job Description
The Director of Sustainability will oversee and standardize the firm's third-party rating system process, elevate the firm's brand in the green industry, develop and launch expanded sustainability-related services portfolio, and share thought leadership through case studies and speaking engagements. This role is to work in conjunction with SDI leadership and not replace it.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, launch, and manage service line and deliverables, along with SDI leadership
  • Provide expertise by monitoring certification trends, programs, and potential challenges
  • Help champion project teams to design and document sustainable achievements
  • Standardize and bring in-house third-party certification and documentation
  • Accountable for-profit goals and market growth
  • Engage national and regional sustainability programs along with SDI leadership
  • Sustainable design outreach
  • Conduct performance reporting
  • Monitor market activity and stay abreast of sustainable technologies and products
  • Expand and diffuse sustainable knowledge throughout the firm through training and education
  • Collaborate with company's internal groups to develop coordinated messaging and process
  • Help guide development of case studies and other collaterals to promote services
  • Help guide and implement sustainability communication strategies
  • Conduct sustainability onboarding for new hires

Job Requirements
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the AEC industry, with emphasis in sustainability initiatives, required. Experience managing LEED checklist and scorecards required.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
Minimum of two sustainability accreditations required. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and willingness to use insured personal vehicle in the course of employment.
Qualifications/Skills:
Candidate must be proficient in Newforma, and Microsoft Office. AutoCAD/Revit knowledge preferred, but not essential. Must have excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere, strong written and oral communication skills and meet deadlines. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be detail oriented and able to perform each essential duty effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective conflict resolution skills, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action.
  • Understanding of and experience in different building typologies, systems and delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage all aspects of projects, clients and key staff.
  • Strong presentation skills and professional presence, with desire and ability to present to clients, design partners and specific audiences.
