Overview

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervisory management within the production areas and for ensuring that all assigned tasks are delivered on time, according to the production specification while complying with any and all Federal, State, Local, or customer requirements, including OSHA, AIB and all Company standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing all production activities of shift operation;
  • Facilitates transitions between shifts and seamless handoffs and communicate key information to peers, team members and Production Management;
  • Ensures the production of quality products in a clean, safe plant within established operating standards and planned schedules;
  • Ensures setup and check out of production equipment to ensure proper start-up;
  • Checks products during production cycle for proper make-up, proofing, and bakes to established standards;
  • Directs equipment adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality and on-time production schedule;
  • Ensures an adequate supply of ingredients, pans, bags, and supplies for a smooth and efficient production run;
  • Participates and supports continuous improvement groups such as SQF and lean production initiatives;
  • Ensures compliance with all quality and food safety programs through regular adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), performance of sanitation audits, food safety checks (HACCP), and product quality checks conducted according to organization policies;
  • Responsible for all supervisory activities including, but not limited to, scheduling, performance, hiring, discipline, coaching, training and development and termination recommendations.
  • Train, motivate and coach production staff to fulfill production requirements and develop a knowledgeable, flexible workforce with low turnover;
  • Interprets, explains, and fairly enforces company policy and procedures to employees;
  • Responds to problems and seeks resolutions in a timely manner;
  • Responsible for seeking understanding of communications by clearly expressing facts and asking follow-up questions;
  • Performs other required tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of food manufacturing experience with leadership experience required;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a fast-paced changing manufacturing environment;
  • Familiar with food manufacturing, safety and quality process concepts, practices, and procedures;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment;
  • Provide communication to workforce via written, visual, and electronic methods to build agreement and understanding;
  • Strong time management skills with attention to detail;
  • Mental and visual ability to identify various products and read instructions, gauges, scales, thermometers, etc.;
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus;
  • Capable of working in environment of flour dust;
  • Ability to work 10-12 hours as needed and work at night.
