Summer Camp Cabin Counselor
Mt. Gilead Camp and Conference Center
Summer 2026, June 15 - Aug 1st.
Position Summary

Mt. Gilead Camp is seeking dedicated, energetic, and spiritually mature young women to serve as Summer Camp Cabin Counselors for our 2026 season. Located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, Mt. Gilead is an all-girls Christian camp dedicated to "Pointing Girls to Christ."
As a Summer Camp Cabin Counselor, you are the primary heartbeat of the camper experience. This role is designed for college-aged women who are passionate about servant leadership, mentorship, and fostering a community of "health, harmony, and happiness." You will serve as a companion and guide, leading young girls through a transformative summer of adventure, spiritual growth, and fun.
Key Responsibilities
Cabin Leadership & Mentorship
  • Holistic Care: Leading and working alongside your fellow staff, you will assume responsibility for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of your assigned cabin group.
  • Daily Guidance: Ensure your cabin follows the daily schedule, escorting campers to meals and activities with enthusiasm and intentionality.
  • Spiritual Discipleship: Lead daily Bible Explorations and evening cabin devotionals. You will be fully trained during staff week to facilitate these meaningful conversations.
  • Community Building: Foster an inclusive environment where every girl feels accepted and valued, acting as a consistent Christian role model in all interactions.
Activity Instruction & Engagement
  • Skill Teaching: Lead or assist in 2–3 daily activities (such as archery, riflery, or high ropes). You are encouraged to bring your unique talents to camp—if you have a passion for a specific craft or skill, you'll have the opportunity to create and lead a new activity!
  • Team Participation: Working alongside other summer camp staff, you will participate in camp-wide events, evening programs, and meal-time fun to ensure a high-energy atmosphere for the campers.
Professionalism & Collaboration
  • Staff Integration: Be a constructive member of the Mt. Gilead family, attending Sunday leadership briefings and Saturday morning staff meetings to coordinate on camper care and logistics.
  • Safety First: Maintain high safety standards during all activities and within the cabin, ensuring a secure environment free from outside distractions.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Spiritual Maturity: A mature Christian woman with a heart for Kingdom work and a desire to reflect Christ’s love to the next generation.
  • Education: Must have completed at least one year of college (or have equivalent life experience) by June 2026.
  • Experience: Previous experience in Christian ministry, youth volunteering, or childcare is required.
  • Skills: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead and work alongside a team of peers under the direction of Camp Directors.
    • A positive, "can-do" attitude and the physical stamina required for an active outdoor summer.
Dates & Logistics
  • Duration: June 15 – August 1, 2026.
  • Location: Tannersville, PA (The Pocono Mountains).
  • Schedule: Full-time seasonal residency. Includes weekday and weekend responsibilities.
Benefits of the Mt. Gilead Experience
  • Professional Development: Gain invaluable leadership, public speaking, and conflict-resolution experience that stands out on any resume.
  • Certifications: Opportunities for free Red Cross First Aid or Lifeguard Certification.
  • Spiritual Growth: Work in a Christ-centered environment with constant support and mentorship from senior leadership.
  • Compensation: Competitive seasonal pay with inclusive room and board.
