Job description

General Purpose To provide responsible and conscientious life saving skills and techniques and courteous customer service to all pool patrons at all times in order to ensure a safe and healthy swimming environment. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Summer weekday, evening and weekend hours required PAY: $14-$16 per hour based on experience.

As a seasonal position with less than 1,040 hours per year, no benefits are available. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Demonstrate the various lifeguard rescue skills and maintain an adequate fitness level to perform their life saving duties throughout the entire swim season Ensure a safe and enjoyable swimming environment Enforce and adhere to all pool rules and regulations. Be strict but courteous Demonstrate positive leadership and good public relations at all times Assist with all office and Pool Attendant duties such as taking admission payments, answering the telephone, etc Be helpful and courteous to all pool patrons and coworkers Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool according to current American Red Cross methods as well as Department policies and procedures Constantly be on the lookout for accidents occurring in the water, on the deck, or on diving boards.

Lifeguards shall keep rescue tubes and hip packs with pocket mask/gloves on their person as dictated by American Red Cross protocol at all times while on duty Lifeguards must be certified and be thoroughly familiar with the emergency procedures at the pool and have the ability to administer rescue breathing or CPR to victims of all ages All lifeguards will be required to review and demonstrate rescue techniques during in-service trainings scheduled throughout the summer swim season Clean the pool, pool office, pool deck area, and the locker rooms Any other duties deemed necessary by the Pool Manager Qualifications Experience dealing with the public MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 15 years of age Must possess current American Red Cross 1st Aid/CPR certifications
