History Teacher
Framingham Academy

Salary Range: $58,000.00 to $62,000.00/year depending on licensure + $5,000 Summer stipend.

Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring forย aย creative and supportive individual to work in ourย Wayside Academy!ย We provide a supportive culture that is team-focused and places valueon healthy work dynamics.ย 


What you will do:ย 

  • Implement curricula according to MA State Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards in a Chapter 766 approved school for students in grades 6-12.ย 
  • Responsible for providing challenging, motivating and relevant learning experiences in aย 220 dayย setting.
  • Teach classes by using various methods and materials to suit topic, IEP and/or learning style.ย 
  • Employ differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, including integrating technology into lesson planning.ย ย 
  • Provide a learning environment which is physically safe and intellectually open and in keeping with special education best practices.ย 
  • Model the schoolโ€™s academic and social expectations.ย ย 
  • Attend department meetings and relevant school and professional events/meetings as necessary.ย ย 
  • Maintain first aid, CPR and TCI certification through provided trainings.
  • Responsible for keeping in compliance with program and agency policies,ย standardsย and protocols.
  • Deliver structured lessons and activities for assigned class period for each group/student in accordance with their current IEP.
  • Provide individualized intervention and accommodation when necessary.
  • Participate in assessment practices in regards to Academy's IAP program.
  • Assist in and/or develop IEPs as appropriate.
  • Participate in teacher and staff meeting.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
  • Complete all associated documentation regarding student progress and grading.
  • Maintain current licensure in moderate disabilities and curriculum area. ย  ย

  • Ability to teach, mentor, and coach others (i.e.ย able to provide constructive feedback to employees on shift, provide thoughtful and instruction).ย

MinimumRequirements:ย ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree required, Masterโ€™s Degree in education preferred.ย 
  • At least 6+ months classroom experience (aide/co-teacher/etc.) preferred.ย ย ย 
  • Licensure: Curriculum certification held, licensure in Moderate Disabilities 5-12 preferred.ย ย 
Weย willย train you in:ย Motivational Interviewing; Courageous Conversations;ย Attachment, Regulation and Competency Model (ARC); Trauma Informed Practice,ย MAP, TCI, CPR, First Aid training upon hire.
