SCHEDULE:        1:30 PM 6:30 PM, MONDAY - FRIDAY
FLSA STATUS:   NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY) 
LOCATION:         GATEWAY COLLEGE PREPARTORY SCHOOL, GEORETOWN TX
 

POSITION SUMMARY

The After School Program Assistant Manager supports the Program Coordinator in overseeing the daily operations of the after school program while helping maintain a safe, structured, engaging, and positive environment for students and staff. This position assists with staff supervision, student accountability, activity coordination, parent communication, and overall program organization.

The Assistant Manager serves as a leadership support role by helping monitor daily operations, assisting with behavior management, supporting staff needs, and ensuring program procedures and expectations are consistently followed. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, adaptable, and passionate about working with children and supporting team success in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the Program Coordinator with the daily operations and supervision of the after school program
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment for students and staff
• Support and assist after school staff with daily activities, student supervision, transitions, and group management
• Monitor and assist with student check-in and check-out procedures to ensure student accountability and safety
• Assist in ensuring authorized pick-up procedures and campus safety protocols are followed consistently
• Lead and participate in activities including homework assistance, enrichment activities, games, crafts, and outdoor play
• Provide support with student behavior management and conflict resolution
• Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Program Coordinator as directed
• Assist with staff scheduling adjustments, activity coverage, and operational needs during staff absences or emergencies
• Communicate professionally and positively with parents, guardians, school personnel, and program staff
• Help maintain accurate attendance records, incident documentation, and program reports as assigned
• Assist with organizing supplies, preparing activity materials, and maintaining program spaces
• Ensure classrooms, activity areas, and common spaces remain clean, organized, and safe
• Support staff morale and teamwork by actively assisting with planning, problem-solving, and daily operations
• Assist with implementing program procedures, expectations, and district guidelines
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and positive leadership at all times
• Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

• Experience working with school-age children in small or large group settings required
• Experience in an after school, summer camp, childcare, or educational setting preferred
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required  

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's degree or coursework in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or related field preferred 

TRAINING

• First Aid and CPR Certification
• CPI Certified (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• Child Abuse Awareness and Bullying Awareness Training
• Other designated staff training as required 

DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS

• Closed-toe shoes
• Comfortable and appropriate attire suitable for working with children and participating in activities
• Staff member shirt (provided) 

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Duties involve walking, sitting, standing, indoor and outdoor activities, and occasional lifting.
• Must maintain a level of general physical and emotional health that permits effective performance of duties.
• Regularly lifts and carries up to 50 pounds. 

• Requires a high level of mental alertness and the ability to tolerate moderate to high levels of stress in a fast-paced environment.
