Medical Billing & Coding Specialist | Part-Time Healthcare Sciences Instructor (1099)

LOCATION
Austin, Texas (Wells Branch / Pflugerville) | Onsite

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
* $99-$110 per instructional session, based on experience and certifications
* Monday-Friday; flexible class schedule based on instructor availability
* Typical class length: 1.5 hours; approximately 3 hours per instructional day including preparation and classroom responsibilities
* 1099 Independent Contractor
* Start: August 2026

ROLE IMPACT
Help prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals by delivering engaging instruction in medical billing and coding. This flexible instructional opportunity allows experienced industry professionals to share real-world expertise while maintaining their current careers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Deliver engaging classroom instruction using real-world medical billing and coding scenarios
* Prepare students for entry-level careers by teaching healthcare reimbursement, coding accuracy, and revenue cycle concepts
* Utilize the provided curriculum while maintaining required classroom documentation
* Mentor students by sharing practical knowledge, professionalism, and real-world industry experience
* Foster a positive learning environment that supports student success

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of 3 years of recent Medical Billing & Coding experience or at least 1 year of Medical Billing & Coding instructional experience
* Active CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or another nationally recognized Medical Billing & Coding credential preferred
* Ability to successfully complete FBI fingerprinting/background screening

CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS
* ICD-10-CM/PCS coding
* CPT and HCPCS coding
* Revenue cycle management processes
* Medical billing and claims processing
* Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
* Healthcare reimbursement and payer guidelines
