Job description

Student Assistant - Alumni Engagement

The ASU Outreach Hub, a central support unit in an enterprise-level marketing and communications ecosystem, is seeking a Student Assistant - Alumni Outreach. This position will perform varied tasks to support efforts that increase alumni involvement and promote life-long connections to ASU. The Outreach Hub partners with Sun Devil Athletics, the ASU Alumni Association, Learning Enterprise, ASU colleges and schools, and other stakeholders to build synergies in outreach efforts and shared outcomes. Tasks will include leading and assisting with engagement projects and campaigns, conducting research and data analysis, creating presentations and contributing to engagement strategies and tactics.

This position will report to the Alumni Outreach Manager and will work 15-25 hours per week during the fall and spring semester with extended hours available during the summer, spring, and winter breaks.

What you'll do
  • Create initial drafts of presentations as well as briefs/memos for stakeholders

  • Maintain reporting decks and documents as assigned

  • Assist with maintenance of the alumni story database, including its representation on the ASU Alumni site

  • Lead select projects and assist with other assignments related to alumni engagement

  • Opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams across the ASU Outreach Hub including marketing and digital performance, creative, and project management

  • Contribute to projects related to the success of Sun Devil Rewards

  • Review current literature and research on alumni engagement strategies

  • Assist in documenting alumni engagement efforts across the ASU Enterprise

  • Assist with analyzing data from internal and external partners

  • Utilize tools like Salesforce (CRM), Wrike (project management software), Google and Microsoft suites to assist as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills with a data driven team

  • Knowledge of Google Drive, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information

  • Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible

  • An advocate's belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University

  • High attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects

  • Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans

Relevant qualifications:
  • A current student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field with a willingness to learn. The student must be willing to sign by a confidentiality agreement.

Preferred education and experience

  • Institutional knowledge of the ASU ecosystem

  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRMs
