A subtitling job focuses on adding subtitles to TV shows, films, video courses, and other digital content. As a subtitler, your responsibilities may involve translating content from a foreign language, creating and formatting closed captions and subtitles, managing the timing and placement of subtitles, and comparing subtitles to official scripts. Your duties may also include reviewing quality control reports, researching content being subtitled, and adjusting the placement of captions when necessary to preserve more of the base content. Some subtitling professionals work with live or near-live content, particularly for daily television shows, which may require having to subtitle content in as little as a few seconds.
