Hours: Full-time

Position Mission

The Studio Production Tech is a hands-on production professional responsible for supporting and operating studio-based and on-location video productions for FOCUS Studios. This role plays a critical part in ensuring studio shoots run smoothly, equipment is properly maintained, and technical execution meets high production standards.

We're looking for a skilled production specialist that has skills in camera operation, editing, and studio technical directing. The Studio Production Tech functions as a Technical Director on multi-camera studio shoots, supports camera operation and lighting, assists with editing workflows, and serves as a production assistant on location when needed. This position is ideal for a technically skilled, detail-oriented team player who enjoys both studio and field production environments.

Position Responsibilities

Studio Production & Technical Direction

Serve as Technical Director for multi-camera studio productions, including switching, signal flow, and basic audio coordination.

Camera operation, lighting setup, and studio configuration for shoots.

Assist with studio shoot preparation, execution, and teardown.

Equipment & Studio Operations

Maintain studio equipment, ensuring gear is organized, functional, and production-ready.

Assist with troubleshooting technical issues during studio and location shoots.

Support ongoing studio setup, upgrades, and operational improvements.

Post-Production & Editing Support

Editing including rough cuts, selects, and basic revisions.

Support Producers and Editors with media management and workflow organization.

Location Production Support

Serve as a production assistant on location shoots as needed.

Assist with equipment transport, setup, and strike for off-site productions.

Event Support

Support large-scale studio and event productions, including SEEK.

Cultivate Divine Intimacy:

  • Personal prayer and/or daily Mass, when possible
  • Avail yourself of other spiritual opportunities 
  • Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, and maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people outside of FOCUS
  • Live out the moral life in Christ
  • A practicing Catholic or Christian in good standing with the Catholic Church.  There is no other background, qualification, or experience that can substitute for this requirement

Qualifications

A deep commitment to the Catholic faith and enthusiasm for the mission of FOCUS.

Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Film, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

1-4+ years of experience in studio or field video production.

Working knowledge of camera operation, multi-camera switching, and studio workflows.

Foundational proficiency in video editing software.

Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to work on-site, assist with location shoots, and support major events including SEEK.

Compensation & Benefits

For this role, we anticipate paying $55,000 - $65,000/year.  This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.
