As the director of student events, you will be responsible for managing all student events based in SCAD Atlanta and SCAD Savannah. This position is responsible for the overall budget of each program, flawless event execution, and management of events staff, which includes acting as the liaison between student involvement teams in Atlanta and Savannah.

In this role, you will work closely with all departments on the promotion of student events to ensure audience participation, positive PR, sponsorship opportunities, and cohesive SCAD brand representation across locations. As you manage a team of student event coordinators and other volunteer staff, your event leadership will extend from planning and scheduling to site setup, breakdown, and technical logistics.

Additional responsibilities include financial and compliance management (i.e., forecasting budgets, monitoring presidential reports, approving contracts with legal, and processing vendor invoices) as well as vendor and material operations (i.e., managing supplier relationships, securing bids for rentals, and approving catering menus, floral designs, and giveaways). You will also be responsible for event security and transportation (including Savannah Police) and hosting production rehearsals with speakers, crews, and booked entertainment talent. Most importantly, you will act as a quality SCAD representative to guests and hosts to fulfill the university's mission.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license

Travel required: 20-40%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
