Nature of Work:
The Academy Performance Coach Intern will assist and support the club's Performance Department in the planning and delivery of a full athletic performance/development program for the Colorado Rapids Development Academy. This program will impact approximately 80 Academy players aged between 13 & 18 years of age.
Examples of work performed:
  • Support Academy Strength & Conditioning coach in design and implementation of a periodized athletic development program to be delivered in weight room and on the training field
  • Support Academy Strength & Conditioning coach in collection of data provided by GPS/Heart Rate Monitoring systems or other available modes and provide coaching staff with data points to guide periodization and session building
  • Support Academy Strength & Conditioning coach in Activation/Regeneration sessions as needed (at home and away)
  • Support Academy Strength & Conditioning coach in providing individualized Return To Play (RTP) Protocols that allows each athlete to progress safely back to full training
  • Support Academy Strength & Conditioning coach in providing at home training programs for those not traveling, injured, or during cancelled session (due to weather)

Qualifications:
  • This individual must possess a minimum of a B.S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Athletic Training.
  • First Aid/CPR certification required.
  • A CSCS, NASM-PES, or equivalent certification is preferred
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    • A Masters in Sports Science, Exercise Science or equivalent is preferred.
    • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver's license and meet company vehicle driving standards.
