Job description


As the Sr. Manager of Media Strategy, you'll lead the team responsible for developing media strategies that help brand partners achieve their business objectives across Best Buy's retail media ecosystem while connecting with our customers in meaningful ways. You'll guide a team of strategists, collaborate across functions, and help shape how partners invest to drive growth and performance. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced role that requires strong media expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and external partners, translating insights into clear recommendations that drive business outcomes, media performance, and long-term partner growth.
This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you'll do
  • Lead shopper-focused media strategies for key brand partners and categories, shaping strategy, investment priorities, and growth opportunities.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of media strategists supporting partner driven programs.
  • Partner with category marketing, sales, creative account management, analytics, and channel teams to develop integrated media strategies and recommendations.
  • Partner with media agencies to shape strategy, guide plan development, and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Oversee strategic frameworks, recommendations, and planning principles that guide investment decisions and partner alignment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve partner value, media effectiveness, and strategic best practices.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities with strong collaboration and responsiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to internal stakeholders and vendor partners, influencing investment decisions through clear, data-driven recommendations.
Basic qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in media strategy, retail media, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in media strategy, media planning, shopper marketing, retail media, or partner-supported marketing programs, with demonstrated experience leading end-to-end omnichannel strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Ability to translate insights into compelling strategic narratives and partner recommendations.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex cross functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working directly with major brand partners or enterprise-level advertisers.
  • Background in retail media networks or shopper-focused marketing environments.
  • Familiarity with omnichannel media planning and measurement.
  • Comfort leading teams through change and driving strategic evolution.
