Job description

Join our collaborative team as a Tax Strategy Advisor, where you'll help high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners navigate complex tax matters and make confident financial decisions.

As a Tax Strategy Advisor, you'll provide advanced tax planning and advisory services to clients with sophisticated financial needs. You'll analyze complex tax situations, identify proactive planning opportunities, develop customized strategies, and prepare income tax returns for some of the firm's largest and most complex clients.

Working closely with clients, their tax counsel, lead advisors, co-advisors, and internal planning specialists, you'll deliver strategic recommendations that align with each client's financial goals while helping create a seamless, integrated wealth management experience.

The Tax Strategy Advisor can expect to focus in the following areas:

  • Develop and implement proactive tax planning strategies for high-net-worth clients and business owners, aligning recommendations with overall financial goals. (Typically, clients with AUM of $5M-$10)
  • Review tax planning strategies and estimates, providing actionable insights for complex client scenarios.
  • Research and analyze complex tax transactions and topics, communicating findings and recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Manage assigned client relationships, tax projects, and workflow during tax season, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Provide subject-matter tax expertise to clients, advisors, and firm leadership to support integrated wealth management solutions.
  • Preparation of complex individual, trust, partnership, foundation and corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance, as required.  Review of less complex tax returns, as needed.
  • Deliver finalized tax return packages to clients, as needed.
  • Analyze IRS and state notices, preparing or reviewing responses as needed. Work directly with taxing authorities on resolving client tax issues.
  • Provide input for educational and promotional materials, such as presentations, articles, and marketing content.
  • Assist with presenting tax concepts to advisors, clients, prospects, and centers of influence (COIs) at events and workshops.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for tax and planning team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Assist in training and developing staff through hands-on guidance and interactive team engagement.
  • Offer feedback on training programs for new tax team members and advisors.
  • Maintain a team-first mindset by assisting colleagues and stepping in when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support client service and firm objectives.

The Tax Strategy Advisor position typically requires the following qualifications:
