Location: Virgina DC Area

Job Type: Full-Time (Minimum 45 hours/week)

Exemption Status: Exempt

Job Summary

The Store Team Leader (STL) is responsible for fostering a positive and productive environment for both team members and customers ("Neighbors") while driving overall store performance. This role champions operational best practices, identifies opportunities for improvement, and celebrates team successes daily.

Reports To

Director of Store Operations

Evaluated by: Market Team Leader and/or Director of Store Operations

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting, assisting, thanking, and offering carryout support to every Neighbor.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, training, evaluations, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Coach and develop team members using company training tools and daily/operational checklists.
  • Communicate effectively with the team through huddles, one-on-ones, and other channels.

Achieve company goals in areas such as:

  • Retail and service sales
  • Private and preferred brand sales
  • Labor costs and scheduling
  • Staffing levels (including service department)
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Store purchases and maintenance expenses
  • Average items per transaction
  • Neighbor satisfaction and carryout metrics
  • Email capture percentage
  • Neighbor Ready Review scores
  • Shrink reduction
  • Team development
  • Stay informed on product knowledge, promotions, and advertisements.
  • Ensure policy and procedure compliance through regular meetings and store walkthroughs.
  • Support the team in task completion and respond promptly to performance issues.
  • Complete assigned educational and operational training.

Proven retail supervisory experience or successful prior experience as a Store Team Leader.

  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and stock shelves.
  • Proficient in operating store equipment and POS systems.
  • Strong communication skills with team members and customers.
  • Ability to read, count, and write accurately.
  • Full access to all store areas (sales floor, stockroom, register).
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights and weekends.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.

Full-time salaried position with a minimum of 45 hours per week.
