This is a rare opportunity to lead at theintersection of handson engineering, student mentorship, and institutionalstrategy while reporting directly to the Provost as a member of the AcademicAffairs Leadership team.
The Director of the Branam and Kremer Innovation Centers(BIC/KIC) provides strategic vision, executive leadership, and externaladvocacy for RoseHulman Institute of Technology's innovation ecosystem whileserving as the Institute's primary ambassador for the Centers. TheDirector establishes, models, and maintains the positive "can do" attitude ofthe Innovation Centers. This senior leadership role is responsible for shapingthe longterm direction of the BIC/KIC; securing external funding and strategicpartnerships; and promoting the Centers to alumni, industry partners, donors,and prospective students. The Director ensures that facilities, staffing, andprogramming are aligned with institutional priorities and advance studentlearning, engagement, and success.
The Director develops and advances a clear, forwardlookingvision for the BIC/KIC that aligns with RoseHulman's strategic goals. Thisincludes leading comprehensive strategic planning for the Centers' physicalfacilities, programming portfolio, staffing models, and future growth whileincorporating emerging trends in innovation, entrepreneurship, and experientiallearning. The Director balances longrange strategy with effective stewardshipof resources and infrastructure to ensure sustainable impact.
The Director provides specialized, handson coaching toselect highimpact student competition teams and recruits, supports, and setsshared expectations for faculty and staff advisors. Leveraging subjectmatterexpertise, the Director guides competition strategies, performance goals, andmultiyear team development, tracking outcomes and driving continuousimprovement. Serving as the primary liaison with external competitionorganizations and governing bodies, the Director monitors rule changes,emerging technologies, and industry trends, and analyzes performance metrics toinform strategic decisionmaking and enhance competitive success.
Daytoday operational and technical activities aresupported by professional staff and student employees under the Director'sleadership. The Director provides administrative supervision and technicalmentorship, ensures effective communication and information flow across teams,and emphasizes safety oversight, risk management, and crosscampuscollaboration. Responsibilities include developing, planning, implementing, andadministering organizational goals and objectives in accordance with Institutepolicies and applicable laws.
The Director works closely with Advancement, CareerServices, Enrollment Management, Communications and Marketing, and other campusstakeholders to secure funding, support student recruitment, promote theBIC/KIC, integrate competitionbased experiences into academic learningobjectives, establish verified microcredentialing and skills badging, andstrengthen student pathways and postgraduate outcomes.
As a member of the Academic Affairs Leadership team, theDirector contributes to setting institutional and departmental strategicpriorities, ensures alignment with RoseHulman's mission and goals, andparticipates in budgeting and resource planning by identifying project needsand priorities. The Director serves on committees and working groups andrepresents the Institute, Academic Affairs, and the Centers at meetings andfunctions as needed. Other duties are performed as assigned to supportinstitutional needs.
Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree inengineering or a closely related technical field is required, along with fiveor more years of relevant professional experience. Qualified candidates willdemonstrate familiarity with experiential learning environments, engineering competitionteams, entrepreneurship, design, or innovation center programming. The rolerequires a proven record of building successful external partnerships, securinggrants, or leading resource development initiatives, as well as the ability toeffectively lead professional staff and manage complex programs or facilities.Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to representthe Institute confidently and effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
In addition to the above qualifications, preferredcandidates will have an advanced graduate degree in a relevant field, alongwith eight or more years of related professional experience. Highly desirablequalifications include experience with fundraising, donor engagement, corporatepartnerships, or other advancementrelated activities. Experience working withcollegiate or advanced high school competition teams-as a participant, coach,or advisor-is also preferred. Familiarity with technical innovation centers isvalued, including handson environments and the safe use of industrial toolssuch as woodworking equipment, 3D printing, metal fabrication, circuitry, andcombustible materials (e.g., rocketry). Experience overseeing or supportingtraining in these settings, with a demonstrated focus on safety, riskmanagement, and effective supervision, is considered a strong asset.

Salary range is 85,000 - 105,000. Salary is competitive.A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
