Miscellaneous Metals, Inc. is a fast-paced steel fabricator and installer serving commercial construction projects across the Washington, D.C. metro area. We specialize in custom stairs, railings, and structural metal systems.
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support our Director of Operations and project management team. This is a growth-oriented role designed for someone with a solid foundation in construction who is ready to develop into a Project Manager in the steel trade.
About the Role
This position is designed for candidates with 2โ€“5 years of experience in construction project coordination or assistant project management who are ready to step into a more hands-on role. You will manage key aspects of projects from fabrication through installation while working closely with our Director of Operations, and will have a clear path to grow into a Project Manager position.
Industry Experience Welcome
Experience in structural or miscellaneous steel is helpful but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in commercial construction, general contracting, or specialty trades (such as concrete, glazing, millwork, or mechanical) are encouraged to apply.
We will provide training on our fabrication workflow, detailing coordination, and field installation practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Operations in coordinating multiple projects
  • Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Review construction drawings and assist with shop drawing coordination
  • Communicate with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams
  • Coordinate with detailing, shop, and field crews to keep projects on schedule
  • Assist with procurement, material tracking, and fabrication timelines
  • Participate in project meetings and follow up on action items
  • Support job cost tracking, billing, and project closeout documentation
  • Attend jobsite visits as needed to support field coordination

Qualifications
  • 2โ€“5 years of experience in construction project coordination, project engineering, or assistant project management
  • Experience working for a general contractor or specialty trade contractor
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, and change order processes
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); Bluebeam or Procore is a plus
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel to local job sites
