Structural Steel Detailer โ€“ Direct Hire

๐Ÿ—“ Schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday, 7:00 AM โ€“ 4:00 PM
โฑ 40 hours/week + overtime as needed
๐Ÿข Work Setting: Office-based (CAD) with occasional shop/field interaction


About the Role

Superior Skilled Trades is working with a structural steel fabrication company in Jefferson, WI to hire an experienced Steel Detailer. This position focuses on producing precise shop, assembly, and erection drawings for structural steel and miscellaneous metals.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in steel detailing, and comfortable collaborating with engineering, project management, and production teams to ensure accuracy from design through fabrication.


What Youโ€™ll Be Responsible For
  • Develop shop and erection drawings for structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects
  • Analyze architectural, structural, and contract drawings to define fabrication needs
  • Generate material takeoffs, bolt lists, cut lists, and bills of materials
  • Revise drawings based on RFIs, redlines, and field updates
  • Work closely with engineers, PMs, fabricators, and field crews to resolve detailing issues
  • Ensure all drawings meet AISC standards and project specifications
  • Maintain organized documentation and track project progress to meet deadlines
  • Provide support to shop and field teams as needed

What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (technical degree in CAD, Drafting, or Engineering Technology preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel detailing or similar drafting role
  • Strong proficiency in CAD/modeling software such as Tekla Structures, SDS/2, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and structural drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with 3D modeling workflows (Tekla or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting
  • Understanding of fabrication processes, erection sequencing, and steel industry standards
